Free Mode: skill and moral farming
Type /freemode to toggle Free Mode. It prevents combat character EXP and base-stat gains while allowing eligible weapon skill, moral and party charisma. Drops and Barr keep their normal eligibility rules. It is session-only and resets off when you log in.
Magic-school proficiency is not weapon skill: it is paused in Free Mode. Charisma still requires its normal party/leader kill conditions; it is not awarded for every solo hit. Wrong-world restrictions, death-recovery rules and skill caps still apply.
Automatic protection for EXP-only targets
Automatic Free Mode now applies per target when an ordinary hunt cannot provide any applicable base-stat training. It prevents wasted character EXP while preserving eligible weapon skill, Moral, party charisma and normal loot. It does not switch your manual /freemode setting: moving to a suitable target restores normal gains. A single hit without a visible stat increase is not the trigger; fractional training potential counts. Human CON punching remains eligible while CON can train. Existing death-recovery and private-expedition rules remain separate.
Manual /freemode remains available when you deliberately want to pause gains on an otherwise suitable hunt.
What monster-name colours mean
| Name colour | Training guide |
|---|---|
| White | No indicated STR/INT training on the selected axis, or colours are disabled by Free Mode, blocked-world status or the level cap. |
| Pale yellow | Reduced training compared with the normal band. |
| Orange | Normal to good training band. |
| Red | Higher training-bonus band; it may also be a harder fight. |
With a staff equipped, the colour compares INT; otherwise it uses STR. It does not evaluate every stat, skill, loot table or your chance of surviving. White does not mean there is nothing worth farming, and red does not guarantee the best progress per hour.
A practical hunting check
- For character growth: Free Mode off, suitable training values, reliable hits and sustainable potion use.
- For Human CON: use the hit-based training rules and the 40 base cap; punching has reduced EXP, not zero EXP.
- For weapon skill, moral or party charisma without leveling: Free Mode on, with normal reward conditions met.
- For mage support: follow the separate shared-EXP and healing requirements.
